Latest review of new and emerging technologies in development for epilepsy

Jan 2017

The NIHR Horizon Scanning Research and Intelligence Centre has published a new online report that describes over 100 exciting new technologies that are being developed to improve the diagnosis, treatment and management of epilepsy in the future.

Epilepsy is a common neurological condition that affects around 600,000 people in the UK, equivalent to almost 1 in 100 people. This report covers new advances in anti-epileptic medications, neurostimulation devices, imaging and genetic techniques, as well as a variety of new surgical, digital and cognitive technologies.

It also includes the views of a small group of people directly affected by epilepsy and medical experts in the field, who provided comments on what significance they thought these new and emerging technologies might have in the real-world.
