Multistatic Array processing for Radiowave Image Acquisition (MARIA) for detection of breast tumours
MARIA is a new test to check if a breast lump is cancer. To do this, the patient lies on a special couch and places their breasts in a ceramic cup. This ceramic cup scans the breast and produces a 3-dimensional image by using radiowaves. The developer says that the main benefits of MARIA is that it is safer, more comfortable and quicker than the methods currently used to check for breast cancer.
